Famous Strongmen
Jon Pall Sigmarsson April 28, 1960 - January 16, 1993 "Pow - er, Viking Pow - er!"
A famous quote from him is "there is no point in being alive if you cannot do the deadlift". In a tragic irony, he died at the age of 32 while performing this exercise in the gym. He knew he had serious heart problems in his family and was aware of this weakness. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest strength athletes of his time.
This physical phenomenon was (6' 3 1/2") and fluctuated his bodyweight between 250 - 310 lb
depending on what he was training for, be it bodybuilding or strongman competitions. If you havent seen
tapes of Jon Pall in competition I suggest you do, this guy was the man to watch, a true inspiration! Jon Pall's
official Powerlifting results are Squat 788 lbs, Bench Press 512 lbs, Dead lift 810 lbs. It seemed like he had
no boundaries.
